WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files created by the Website and sent, at the time of access, to Users' terminals where they are stored to be retransmitted to the Website itself on subsequent visits. Cookies are used for several different purposes. They have different characteristics and can be used by both the owner of the Website being visited and by third parties.
Information contained in a cookie can be used to track the browsing activity effected by the web server that issued it but also on other, different, third party websites with which it was originally shared and which therefore make use of the same cookie.
Some cookies are necessary to ensure proper operation of the Website or they may allow for its personalised use; in this case, disabling them could compromise some Website functions.
Almost all web browsers automatically accept cookies by default. However, Users can modify the default configuration, as illustrated in greater detail in this Policy.
Full information on the cookies installed via this Website and the information needed to manage cookie-related preferences is given below.
TYPES OF COOKIES
It is possible to classify cookies based on:
their life cycle:
Session cookies: these cookies are stored briefly and temporarily on the memory of the User's device while browsing the Website. They are automatically deleted when the web browser is closed. Unlike other cookies, session cookies do not have an expiry date, and on this basis the browser is able to identify them as such. They are used to transmit the session identifiers necessary to allow secure, efficient browsing of the Website.
Persistent cookies: these cookies remain stored until their expiry date, or for a set time, on the User’s device. This means that, for the entire lifespan of the cookie (which may be long or short depending on the expiry date), its information will be transmitted to the server every time the User visits the Website, or every time the User views a resource belonging to the Website from another website (e.g. an advertisement). They are therefore used to facilitate browsing within the Website and ensure its proper use, to facilitate access to services that require authentication (so that Users do not have to re-enter authentication credentials each time they access the services), for statistical purposes and to understand which areas of the Website have been visited. In certain cases they are also used to optimise page and advertising space management or deliver content and advertising that match the choices made by internet users.
their origin:
First-party cookies: these are managed directly by the Website’s Data Controller (they belong to the same domain shown in the browser address bar) and can only be read by the Website; these are cookies sent to the browser directly from the Website the User is visiting. They may be either persistent or session cookies. For example, they’re used to ensure technical operation (so-called "technical cookies") or to track expressed preferences regarding use of the Website itself (e.g. to keep track of the selected language). Depending on the specific case, installation of first-party cookies may or may not require the User's prior consent.
Third-party cookies: these are generated and managed by persons extraneous to the Website visited by the User (i.e. they belong to a domain other than that indicated in the browser's address bar). Again, they may be either persistent or session cookies. For example, they’re used to find out the number of pages visited within the Website itself (so-called "statistics cookies" or "analytics cookies") or to publish content or advertising on the website being visited. Installation of third-party cookies always requires the User’s prior consent.
Third-party cookies allow for more complete surveys on Users' browsing habits and are believed to be more sensitive from an integrity viewpoint. This is why most web browsers allow you to change the settings to deny acceptance of such cookies.
It is possible to distinguish cookies according to their application (or main purposes):
Technical cookies: these are needed to allow Website browsing (as they are functionally necessary to scroll pages, consult content and provide the service) and to facilitate access to/use of the Website by Users, and to allow use of some products and services. For example, they are used to recognize Users who have self-authenticated via their email address and to keep the session open even when they visit other pages of the Website, or to ensure certain security measures on the Website and monitor its correct operation. Installation of technical cookies does not require the User’s prior consent.
Statistics or analytics cookies: these are used directly by the owner of the Website itself to optimise the Website. More specifically, they are used to monitor Website performance by collecting information in aggregate form on the number of Users and how they visit the Website (e.g. to learn about the number of pages visited or the number of Users who displayed a certain section). In general, therefore, analysis of such cookies generates anonymous, aggregated statistical data without any reference to the identity of the Website’s Users. They are also useful for assessing any modifications or improvements to the Website itself. Under these conditions, statistics cookies are - in terms of information and consent - subject to the same rules stated for technical cookies.
Preference cookies (also called Functional cookies): these cookies are useful for aiding correct, effective use of the Website by the User and for creating a personalised browsing experience that meets expressed expectations. They are used, for example, to keep track of the selected language. Installation of functional cookies does not require the User’s prior consent.
Marketing and profiling cookies (also called Advertising cookies): the purpose of these cookies is to provide advertising space. They can be installed either directly by the Website owner or by third parties (e.g. partners and suppliers). Some of them are used to calculate the value of the advertising proposal, identify individual advertisements and learn which ones were selected and when. Other advertising cookies are used to deduce the User’s browsing "profile" (behavioural and retargeting cookies) in order to offer them similar advertising content that reflects their on-line behaviour and interests. This "profile" is anonymous and the information collected by these cookies does not allow the User’s identity to be traced. Installation of advertising cookies always requires the User’s prior consent.
Social Network cookies: these cookies allow you to share the content of the Website you are visiting with other Users or express your opinion on it. These cookies are typically used to activate "Like" or "Follow" functions on Social Networks such as, but not limited to, Facebook and Twitter. These functions allow Social Networks to identify their Users and collect information also while they browse other websites. It is recommended that Users consult the privacy policies of the individual Social Networks they use to learn about their personal data processing purposes and methods. Installation of Social Network cookies always requires the User’s prior consent.
COOKIES USED BY THIS WEBSITE
The use of cookies on this Website is part of the Privacy Policy of the same; for more information on the Personal Data Controller, processing methods, managers and agents, information on rights pursuant to Articles 15-22 of the EU General Regulation 679/2016 ("GDPR") or information on further processing of data provided during registration for services, the User can consult the Website Privacy Policy by clicking here or refer to specific privacy policies for services provided through the Website.

Cookie management via browser
In addition to that stated in this document, Users can manage and delete Cookie-related preferences directly on their browsers and prevent, for example, their installation by third parties.
Users can also use the browser settings to remove existing cookies and block installation of new cookies.
